Two tires in one hit... shit, not even the only one who had to stop

This happened to me too. Last summer. Both left side tires and rims. It was so expensive I made an insurance claim.
What happened?

Huge pothole on the highway after a blind corner ... it was inevitable, cars are lining the hard shoulder, even a cop pulled over to check it we were OK.
If these rims get damaged, I’m switching over to the 2.0s 18in rims

I’d probably have the ECM checked too. If t he impact was hard enough to make it spell “tire” incorrectly, who knows what else is wrong.

What I didn’t miss about daily driving a sedan with lower profile wheels/tires is the tires getting damaged by occasionally potholes I couldn’t avoid.
Usually at night after a hard rain, the pot holes develop and nearly impossible to avoid.
Nice not having to really worry about them anymore on my daily in my F150.
Weekend driving on a canyon road is far safer to the low profile tires on my sedan.

If you switch your settings to ‘Murican measurements does the computer spell tires correctly?

I asked, it said “only if we also do miles and PSI.”
So I said no

It's spelled the English English way so it is spelled correctly. :p lol.

Have you checked if those potholes have been reported to the local authorities?
Here if the pothole has been reported and it's beyond a certain size or depth and not been repaired then the local authority is liable for any damage so long as you weren't driving excessively or dangerously.

Really?
Mine will let me change any of the settings to how I want them so temperature in Celsius and distance in miles.

I was told, but I hit the pothole outside my state’s jurisdiction so it doesn’t apply.

I swear that I’m gonna put this thing on the 2.0 wheels, inch smaller. I’m also getting some properly resistant tires

Ah shit. Sorry man.
Does your insurance cover a certain number of free pothole repairs?

No, but the flatbed is going to be free.
first to my house, then to a Kia dealer tomorrow for them to asses the damages. It was a pothole at 65km/h I slowed down as fast as possible...
I’m expecting them to carry out an inspection of the suspension, the rims, and the tires. But those contis are dead and burried. Since I have 12k on the other two, I should probably get a whole set.
BUT, the whole set is 48,000 pesos, my deductible is 32,000. I’m guessing I could either get two wheels, or ask the dealership how much they charge for the 18ins rims and get them with the tires.... It might even be cheaper.

Potholes are a massive issue here. My city’s claim to fame is it’s the first U.K. authority to use plastic roads. Solves the potholes and to a slight degree the plastics issue.
I hope your excess isn't too high if you have to pay one.

I just had to get a tire replaced because of a bulging sidewall. No other damage. They call it road damage because these low profile tires are so fragile. If I had a choice, I’d go to 18 or even 17.

I got curious as to why we spell them differently. Turns out we both originally used tire as a derivative of “ attire,” as a wheel with a tire was considered “dressed”. Wasn’t until the British started wrapping railroad wheels in iron that they started calling them tyres , but “tire” was still the accepted spelling in Britain. Fowlers English Usage described “tire” as the correct spelling as late at 1926.
Interesting stuff.
Here’s a real interesting story about the dissapearing dialect and island of Tangiers, off the coast of Virginia. It’s supposed to be pretty close to the the Elizabethan dialect of the original English settlers who came in the 1750s.

I can’t go down to 17ins because of the brake calipers

It’s going to be very expensive because those tires are very rare here, and they sell them at a very high premium.

It is a compromise between good looks/performance vs practicality. Luckily I have a good wheel shop near me that can fix bent wheels very easily. Even tire repairs from a nail is usually easy and no cost from my local tires shops.
But a damaged tires by pot hole cannot typically be repaired. If you have tire sho ps with road hazard insurance in your area, I highly recommend having that.
But moving to larger tires / smaller wheels is going to be one of the best investments you make if you daily drive in a pot hole heavy area.
Maybe you can find a used set of base model wheels/tires and use those as your daily set. Keep your nice set for use on special occasions and weekend canyon runs.

Ye’, I love the differences and how they came about.
Stuff like spelt and spelled, both are accepted and both were used quite equally, but by the 1980s, spelled became the predominant spelling for it.
Like cancelled in America. I always see cancel and cancellation, but canceled and cancelled seem to depend on who's writing it.

It’s going to be quite the expense... But yeah, i’d rather switch to the base model wheels... specially since those are also narrower so I’m looking at an improved fuel economy too. Shamefully, Stinger’s aren’t very common around my area so finding base model rims used is basically off the table.
I’ll see what the dealer says tomorrow...

G otcha, or maybe an aftermarket set. Buying from the dealer factory wheels is expensive.

Honestly, even if as a whole it was cheap, the replacement parts on this car are as expensive as the BMW ones... I really want to get something smaller, and much more economical for my, predominantly, city life
